A new backer update
about 7 years ago – Fri, Dec 22, 2017 at 12:37:31 AM

Dear backer,

Here’s a brief but no less important update concerning the quality, production, and delivery of the HEY bracelets.

This month we’ve updated everyone about the first batch of HEY bracelets that was scheduled to be sent out to the first group of backers. The bracelets have been tested at the factory and were ready for delivery. However, we discovered that after repetitive use, some bracelets showed issues with the battery and motor. Therefore, we had to make the difficult decision of repealing the shipping order. We really want to deliver you a product that lives up to our high-quality standards (and your expectations), so you won’t be anything other than very happy with your HEY bracelet.

To solve those issues, we decided to order new and more importantly, better components. At the moment, we don’t know exactly when those components will arrive at the factory. We expect more information on that in January after we’ve visited the production facility. In that month, we will also give you a little presentation of the HEY app, before it’ll be available for download.

We’re sorry to bring you this news, but we feel this is, in this case, the best solution for everyone. As said before, we want HEY bracelet to be of the highest possible quality and nothing less. Despite the bad news, we wish you a Merry Christmas, hopefully in the presence of your loved one(s).

Production and shipping
We’re going to be frank: we have good news and some bad news. The good news is that the production of HEY will be starting in December and the first bracelets will be ready for shipment before the holidays. The bad news is that we cannot manufacture all the bracelets at once, which means shipping is going to take place in batches. As you have been eagerly awaiting news on this subject, we wanted to share this information with you now, before the start of December.

The last phase
The development of HEY, the testing, arranging certifications and preparing production has been an exciting road and has given us a lot of positive energy and willpower to create this revolutionary device. However, it has also been a road full of challenges and we've had to constantly learn, adapt and optimize. Developing and producing a new global product with global distribution is a far more challenging trajectory than we had foreseen when we started the project. And in our enthusiasm, our partners and we have been too optimistic about the shipping term. Still, as said, the first batch will be shipped in December. This means that by then, we’ve officially entered the last phase of the Kickstarter project: the production and shipping of the backer bracelets. This, of course, doesn’t mean we’re going to sit back and relax. As we will be taking care of aftersales and will be there for questions you might have after having received your bracelets.

Shipping in batches
When the first batch has been shipped in December, the second and third batch will follow in January and February. Every backer will receive a personal email in due time about which batch they have been assigned to.

We understand if you have questions about this update and about the shipping in batches. Please send your comments or questions to [email protected] and we will answer them the best way we can.

The shipping term for pre-order customers (non-backers) remains unchanged until further notice.

The HEY App: the ‘heart’ of two bracelets
about 7 years ago – Mon, Nov 13, 2017 at 09:38:37 PM

Without a heart, there’s no love to spread. We’re ready to give you guys an update on the most important element next to the HEY bracelet itself: the HEY App.

Most of you already know that the application that will run on your smartphone enables the bracelets to transmit a touch from one bracelet to the other. After you’ve unpacked the bracelets, it’s the first thing that will help you set up your account, ’pair’ the bracelets and get you ready for sending your very first touch (called a ‘HEY’ in the app), to the person you love.

For the past weeks, our passionate team of developers and designers have been programming, sketching and making final decisions on the appearance and functionalities of the HEY application. Technique and design have now been put together to make an app that is stunning to look at and very easy to use.

The HEY App:

  • Lets you set up your account, activate and ‘pair’ the bracelets
  • Shows the battery status of your bracelet
  • Logs both sent and received HEYs. Very handy if you’ve been intentionally or unintentionally offline for a period of time.
  • Shows the local time and location from where a HEY was sent. If the sending party is not cool with this feature, it can be switched off ;)

The HEY App is at the center of two people using the bracelets. The app was initially designed with a couple of key features, but we’re constantly looking at potential new features to implement in the future. In the recent past, we received a lot of tips and ideas for the HEY app, for which we thank our backers!

The HEY App will be available at the same time HEY will go into production and will be available for iOS 9.0 and up and Android 4.4 (Kitkat) and up.

A new backer update: VIDEO
over 7 years ago – Wed, Sep 20, 2017 at 06:36:30 PM

HEY there! It's been a while, and we realize you're dying to know how HEY is coming along. So let's get straight to the point by showing you a video and let us explain what we're looking at:

The casing of HEY has been 3D printed and has been fitted with the mechanical parts like the motor, spindle, and battery. HEY now not only feels like real (the squeeze) but also works like real. The one part that hasn't been implemented yet is the PCB that allows the two bracelets to communicate via Bluetooth. We expect to install this element within the coming weeks.

What's next
Besides installing the PCB, the next step is to cover the casing and the mechanical parts with the external design that will result in HEY not only feel and work like real but also look like real! And the good part is, we're almost ready to show you this too :)

It's all coming together now! Expect new backer updates from us on a more regular basis.

The HEY-team.

The estimated shipping term for backers remains unchanged: end of December 2017. For pre-order customers: early February 2018.
